Keisha Battle is a native of Atlanta, Georgia whose childhood educational career included both private and public schooling in Atlanta Public Schools, Fulton County Schools, and the DeKalb County School District. She is a proud graduate of Lithonia High School. She received a B.B.A. in Accounting from Georgia State University. After several years in accounting, she decided to transition to education because of her passion for children. She received a M.A.T. in Middle Grades Math and Social Studies, Ed.S. in Teacher Leadership, and Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. All of which were received at Mercer University of Atlanta.
As an educator, Dr. Battle, has served as a middle school math and social studies teacher where she taught students from a diverse set of backgrounds and wide range of learning abilities. She later served as academic coach in which she supported teachers in implementing best instructional practices that aided in school improvement and student success. She has served as an assistant principal in both elementary and middle school levels. She is a strong advocate for all students but has unyielding compassion for economically disadvantaged, students with disabilities, English learners, and gifted learners. She firmly believes that leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality and wants to inspire others to go places instructionally that they may be afraid to go to on their own.
